Yasukawa claims 10th position on the grid.
Roger Yasukawa qualified the #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone in 10th position for his second career IRL IndyCar Series start. Yasukawa, who currently leads the rookie standings, is after his goal of a top-10 finish in Sunday's Purex Dial Indy 200.
Roger Yasukawa , Driver - #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I think our qualifying went pretty well. We made positive changes after the morning session, and the time definitely got quicker. There were a couple of other things that we could have tried to go quicker, but I think 10th is a pretty good place to start. We will continue to work on the race setup and I hope we will have a good top-10 finish."
Tom Anderson , Managing Director:
"It was a successful day for the team. [Race engineer] John Dick had us working on our race setup for most of the morning practice, with only two runs late in the session used [to prepare] for qualifying. John freed the car up a bit more for qualifying, and Roger was able to run his best lap of the weekend.
"I think Firestone has built a great tire for Phoenix. It will be no problem to use all the fuel before we need tires. They are the perfect tires for this weekend. Honda is on the pole again and we are very happy with the new modifications this weekend. If we finish in the top 10 tomorrow, then it will have been a totally successful weekend."
