Phoenix, AZ (March 18, 2000) - Notes from the MCI WorldCom Indy 200 at Phoenix International Raceway

Hemelgarn Racing has withdrawn their primary Riley & Scott chassis, switching to the back up Riley & Scott chassis for tomorrow's race. Buddy Lazier qualified the Delta Faucet/Coors Light Hemelgarn entry in 24th position. He will start 26th tomorrow.

Joe Ruttman won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck race from the pole position this afternoon. The 55-year old driver brings the Dana Dodge its first ever win in the Craftsman Truck Series and Dodge's first victory of the 2000 season.

Team Extreme drivers Davey Hamilton and Airton Dare, along with team manager, John Lopes announced several new associate sponsors at Phoenix International Raceway this afternoon. USACredit.com will adorn the sidepod of Airton Dare's No. 88 entry for Sunday's MCI WorldCom Indy 200. Hamilton's car will have sponsorship from USACredit.com as well.

Team Extreme also announced associate sponsorship from Racesearch.com, Smith Transport and Adauction.com. Team Extreme's primary sponsorship is from Lycos, another popular internet company.

"It will expand our prominence in the racing and high performance community and bring dot-coms to the IRL."

Interested spectators at this weekend's MCI WorldCom Indy 200 included local resident and CART team owner Pat Patrick and Jeff Andretti, son of 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner, Mario Andretti.

Indy Racing Northern Light Series driver Buzz Calkins and television actor Anthony Edwards will announce tomorrow their plans to bring awareness to the efforts of Cure Autism NOW (CAN). CAN was established to find an effective biological treatment, prevention and cure for autism and related disorders.

The U.S. F2000 National Championship has renamed its top rookie award the Greg Moore Rookie of the Year Award in honor of the Canadian driver killed at California Speedway in October, 1999. Additionally, Moore's car number, 99, has been retired from U.S. F2000 National Championship competition.

The CARA Children's Fund has been renamed in honor of Shirley Bettenhausen. The fund is now known as the CARA/Shirley Bettenhausen Children's Fund at Methodist Hospital.
