Kelley Racing Starts Toward Back Of Field For Phoenix Race

Kelley Racing will face some challenges tomorrow as they start the Bombardier ATV Copper World Indy 200 towards the back of the field. Although both drivers were happy with their cars during practice sessions this weekend, qualifying posed a challenge to the veteran drivers. Al Unser Jr. was the first driver on the track for qualifications today and will start the No. 7 Corteco/Bryant car in 18th position for tomorrow's race. Unser is obviously disappointed, but feels confident about tomorrow's event.

"The wind affected me a little bit out there and so did going out right after the Silver Crown cars," said Unser. "But the main problem was in turn 4 when I lost the front end. The car was good through (turns) 1 and 2, but I'm not sure what happened in (turn) 4. I'm not worried about the race tomorrow. The Corteco/Bryant team does a great job so I know we'll be ready."

Scott Sharp qualified his No. 8 Delphi entry in the 15th position. Sharp did not expect to qualify well today as the team worked mainly on race setup all weekend.

"We really worked more on race setup this weekend," said Sharp. "Even during practice this morning we made some good improvements towards the race. Since we spent so much time working on race setup, it didn't leave much time to work on a qualifying car. That's OK, the race is more important. Let's go racing."

The Bombardier ATV Copper World Indy 200 will be broadcast live at 4 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, March 17.
