PHOENIX, Wednesday, March 14, 2001 - Event happenings leading up to and during the Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200 on March 16-18 at Phoenix International Raceway:
The Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200 starts at 2 p.m. (MST) March 18. MBNA Pole Qualifying starts at noon March 17.
Practice sessions start at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. March 16, 9 a.m. March 17, and 10 a.m. March 18.
ON THE AIR:
The Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200 will be televised live on ABC at 4 p.m. (EST) March 18. "Indy Racing 2Day" will be televised live at 11:30 a.m. March 18 on ESPN2.
ESPN2 will televise MBNA Pole Qualifying at 4:30 p.m. (EST) March 18.
The Indy Racing Radio Network will broadcast a 30-minute pre-race show at 3:30 p.m. (EST) March 18, followed by the live race broadcast at 4 p.m. A qualifying wrap-up show will be broadcast at 4:30 p.m. (EST) March 17.
The area IRRN affiliate is KMVP-AM 860, Phoenix. The IRRN race broadcast also will be available live on the Internet at www.indyracing.com as part of a partnership between Indy Racing Online and Yahoo!/broadcast.com, the world's leading Web broadcast site.

Hooters Restaurant is offering the "Indy 200 Starting Line Package" at four locations in and around Phoenix. For $45, fans get a ticket to the Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200, transportation to the track, an Indy Racing baseball cap, an entree and beverage served at a post-race party and a souvenir ID badge. Buses will leave at 10 a.m. (MST) March 18 from Hooters' locations in Ahwatukee and Bell Road.
HISTORY IN THE MAKING:
The Indy Racing Northern Light Series will pair up on the same weekend with the historic Copper World Classic for the first time in 2001.
The Copper World Classic features two races March 17, for Supermodified Racing League cars at 2:30 p.m. (MST) and USAC WorldCom National cars at 3:30 p.m.
USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Series cars will race at noon March 18, two hours before the start of the Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200 Indy Racing Northern Light Series event.
Indy Racing standout Davey Hamilton plans to compete in all four events at Phoenix.
IT'S A PARTY: Indy Racing drivers will sign autographs from 7:15-9 p.m. (MST) March 15 at the "Pennzoil Speedfest Drivers Party" taking place at the Arizona Center from 5-9:30 p.m.
Pennzoil and Purex Indy Racing cars will be on display, as will the Gamepod Simulator, which will allow fans to play the video game "Indy Racing 2000."
