Phoenix, AZ (March 29, 1999) - The Kelley Racing Team leaves Phoenix today a little disappointed, but one step closer to a Pep Boys Indy Racing League Championship. The series rewards consistency and both drivers brought their rides home in the top-ten.

The team showed early promise this weekend: Mark qualified his MCI WorldCom sponsored car second and Scott started the race sixth. Once the race started, both drivers struggled to find grip on the slippery track. Mark led the first fourteen laps of the contest, but slipped back into the pack as the race progressed. "I was dancing with a very large dance partner and she had the lead," said Dismore.

Scott Sharp ran as high as third before a late race gamble cost the team two laps in the pits. The Delphi Automotive Systems car ran out of fuel during a late race caution period. The team tried to conserve fuel but fell short waiting for the officials to open the pits for service.

Kelley Racing will test in Charlotte on April 1 and in Indianapolis April 6, 9-10. The team's next race is May 1 in Charlotte. For more information on Kelley Racing check out our web site at www.kelleyracing.com.
