Panther Drivers Finish 7th and 11th on Chart
Avondale, Ariz. -- Both Panther Racing Chevrolets were quick Wednesday during the Indy Racing League's open test at Phoenix International Raceway, and both drivers continued to get comfortable on the one-mile oval. Tomas Scheckter led the way in the #4 Pennzoil Chevy, posting the seventh quick time on the speed chart with a lap of 172.677 mph, 20.8482 seconds.
Tomas Enge finished the morning session of the Miami Open Test as the fastest car on the chart, and he did the same thing at PIR this morning. Enge, who will competing in his first full IndyCar Series season, posted a quick lap of 172.297 mph, 20.8941 seconds, which was tops in the morning session. Despite fighting a cold, the Panther newcomer has proven to be a quick study in his two tests with the team. He finished the day 11th, with a best lap of 172.297 mph, 20.8941 seconds.
"It was a good day overall. Chevy continues to prove that we're going to be strong this year, and that's encouraging to all of us. These tests are great for practice, but I know everybody in the Panther garage is ready to get the season started in Homestead."
"The morning was really positive, and we finished as the quickest car on the track. That is always a good thing. Our program was shortened this afternoon because we cut a couple tires. I like this track the most of all the ovals I've driven, and I'm looking forward to getting back out here tomorrow."
