Panther Completes Second Day of Road Course Testing

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- It was another day at the office for Panther Racing Thursday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, as both drivers reached the top twelve on the speed chart while logging a healthy dose of laps on the 2.21-mile road course. It was Tomas Enge that ended the day's activities with the fastest Panther lap time, at 112.287 mph, 70.8539 seconds. Teammate Tomas Scheckter finished 12th quick on the day, with a top lap time of 112.048 mph, 71.0054 seconds. Both drivers turned 73 laps apiece.

There will be no track activity on Friday while the IRL hosts its Media Day and the crew changes the car over from road course to oval setup. Panther Racing will then test on the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway oval from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Tomas Scheckter:

"It was another productive day. We're learning so much out here about the car and the road courses that everything we do is very positive. We made some big gains this afternoon in the Pennzoil car, and I'm starting to get the feel for the road courses again. At the same time, it's going to be fun to get back on the oval Saturday morning."

Tomas Enge:

"We are pretty happy with the way the day went, and 90% of our job went according to the plan. It's a big shame that I couldn't have done more testing before Christmas while our competitors where testing at that time, but on the other hand, we have only three road course races, so my main focus has to be on ovals anyway. I'm looking for Saturday's first outing at the oval."
