Conseco/A.J. Foyt Racing and Billy Boat Qualifying Notes, Saturday, June 27

* Billy Boat won his third career IRL pole position today by winning the pole for the New England 200 with a 162.146 mph (23.490 second) lap. * Boat is the first driver to win two PPG poles this season. He also won the pole for the Indianapolis 500. He earned $10,000 for winning the PPG Pole Award. Chief mechanic, Craig Baranouski earned $10,000 as the True Value Pole Winning Chief Mechanic. * This will be the fourth consecutive race that Billy has started from the front row (Phoenix-second, Indianapolis-first, Texas-second, and New Hampshire-first.) * Boat's fastest qualifying lap is a new track record for a new-formula Pep Boys IRL car at the New Hampshire International Speedway. * Billy Boat about qualifying: "The whole A.J. Foyt/Conseco team did a good job today. It was probably a little bit of an advantage for us going last in the qualifying order. Tommy LaMance (team manager) did a good job with the draw. It's like the old dirt track days. If you had to go out early the track was too slick, so if you went out last the track kind of comes in. The same thing happened today. Everybody else cleaned the rubber off. The Conseco car was pretty good. I think we could have gone even quicker on the next lap. The car was just getting better and better. "
