Matsuura in Row Nine for Firestone Indy 225

Kosuke Matsuura [Kohs-kay Mat-sur-ah] has qualified in 18th position for Sunday's Firestone Indy 225, the 100th race for the IRL IndyCar® Series. Matsuura has made steady gains in his first appearance on the challenging one-mile Nazareth oval, picking up just under two-tenths of a second from his best time on Friday in a tight grid covered by nine-tenths of a second.

The Bombardier Rookie of the Year points leader will be looking to improve on his best one-mile oval result to date of 10th in tomorrow's 225-lap race.

Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Panoz G Force/Honda/Firestone:

"I am very disappointed with qualifying because the second lap was quite good for me. I think I could have had a 20.5 or something like that. Going into Turn Three and shifting from fifth to fourth gear, I couldn't put fourth gear and I lost a couple of tenths there. I had the same problem yesterday. Basically the car was very good today, and I just need to think ahead to the race."
