NAZARETH, Pa., April 19 Although Robby McGehee is from St. Louis, he has deep connections in the Keystone State.

McGehee and his mother Janet got the racing bug from Robby's maternal grandfather, the late Ellis Wayne Burdick of Union Dale, Pa., which is northeast of Scranton.

Robby's mother, Janet, spent all her summers on the Burdick farm in Union Dale while she was growing up, and she and her husband, Smith, made sure that both Robby and his younger brother, Michael, did the same when they were young. The family photo album contains pictures of Robby sitting on his grandfather's motorcycle at the farm when he was only a year old.

The family has many friends in the area, but many don't realize that Mr. Burdick's grandson grew up to become an Indy Racing League star and is racing here at Nazareth this weekend in the Firestone Indy 225. McGehee drives Cahill Racing's Scottrade.com/Dollar-Rent-a-Car Dallara, which is also being sponsored by the Phillipsburg Clarion Hotel here this weekend.

Both Robby and his mother, Janet, share the common Pennsylvania surname Burdick as their middle name in honor of Ellis Wayne Burdick.

"My dad will be riding with Robby here this weekend," Mrs. McGehee said.
