Nazareth, PA (August 22, 2003) - Movie and television star Anthony Edwards will serve as the honorary starter for this weekend's Firestone Indy 225 Indy Racing League IndyCar Series event at Nazareth Speedway. Edwards will wave the green flag on Sunday, August 24th, on behalf of the Cure Autism Now Foundation. "We are very excited to welcome Anthony Edwards to Nazareth Speedway," track President Craig Rust said. "Anthony's work with Cure Autism Now is truly an inspiration and we are pleased to have him join us on Nazareth Speedway's biggest event weekend."
Along with his acting duties, Edwards plays an active role in the Cure Autism Now Foundation, where he sits on the Board of Directors. Edwards heads up the "ER Celebrity Golf Classic benefiting Cure Autism Now", where several "ER" personalities, along with a number of other celebrities, are brought together to help raise money for the Foundation.
"I am incredibly honored to have been selected as the honorary starter for the Firestone Indy 225," Edwards said. "I enjoy auto racing and I'm excited to play such an important role in the weekend. To be here on behalf of Cure Autism Now makes it even more special."
