Fernandez Pleased with Opening Practice at Nazareth

Adrian Fernandez claimed the seventh-fastest time of the day as opening practice activities got underway today at Nazareth Speedway in preparation for Sunday's Firestone Indy 225 -- the 100th IRL IndyCar® Series race. Fernandez last competed at Nazareth in 2001, and is preparing for his ninth major open-wheel start on the challenging one-mile oval. Fernandez, who has not tested at Nazareth in an IndyCar Series car, was only 0.1547 seconds off the fastest practice time of the day.

Weather: For the first practice session, mostly cloudy with temperatures at 79 F and winds out of the west at 10 mph; for the start of the second 45-minute practice session, partly cloudy and humid with temperatures at 83 F and south-southwest winds at 10 mph.

Adrian Fernandez, #5 Quaker State/Telmex/Tecate Panoz G Force/Honda/Firestone:

"It was a good day. The car has been good which makes me pretty happy because we didn't test here like a lot of teams. We have a good baseline, and I think we are looking good for the whole weekend. It is nice to be back at Nazareth. I have been in many races here going back to Indy Lights. It is nice to be here for the last race."
