Lebanon, TN (July 15, 2004)-- Today was both the practice and qualifying sessions for tomorrow's Firestone Indy 200. Practice was held in two sessions over the course of the day and then qualifying began at 3:45 p.m. Sharp rolled off 17th in the qualifying order and posted a best effort of 198.162 mph/23.6170 seconds good for an 15th starting position. Sharp will be making his fourth start at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday and his best finish at this event was fifth place in 2001.

Buddy Rice will start from the pole for tomorrow's 200-lap event after posting a speed of 201.231 mph. Vitor Meira will start second with a speed of 200.967 mph and Bryan Herta will start third with a speed of 200.955 mph. The green flag will drop tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. and be shown live on ESPN.

*The Firestone Indy 200 will be Sharp's 89th career start, his 81st consecutive IRL IndyCar start--an IndyCar record-- and his seventh season with Kelley Racing.

* Nashville Record--In 2003 he started 14th and finished 13th. In 2002, he started 11th and finished eighth, while in 2001 he started 13th and finished fifth.

*Sharp is currently in 14th place in the IndyCar Series points standings with 124 points.
