Rain Cuts First Practice Day Short at Japan

MOTEGI, Japan -- Rain at the 1.5-mile Twin Ring Motegi oval cut the first day of practice short for Panther Racing and driver Vitor Meira on Thursday. After a morning rain washed out the scheduled morning session, another light shower in the afternoon eliminated the last 15 minutes of practice. Meira will be given additional time during Friday's morning practice.

Vitor finished with the 16th quickest time during his limited track activity, just behind 2003 IndyCar Series Champion Scott Dixon. He ran a quick lap of 195.205 mph, 28.0321 seconds.

Vitor Meira Quote:

"The entire Panther team is very positive about where we are right now. We only ran 19 laps and we know where to find more speed in the Network LIVE car. It was important for us to get on track today and I know we're going to make some big positive strides tomorrow."
