WHELDON QUALIFIES FIFTH AT MOTEGI IN KLEIN TOOLS/JIM BEAM CAR

MOTEGI, Japan (April 29, 2005) - Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon qualified on the inside of row three with a best-lap speed of 204.227 miles per hour (26.7937 seconds) for Saturday's running of the Indy Japan 300, the fourth race on Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series schedule.

Although he put up a good qualification time, Wheldon was at a disadvantage because he was the third driver to attempt to qualify. As the qualifications went on, weather conditions improved and speeds increased accordingly throughout the session.

The 200-lap race goes green on Saturday at 12 a.m. (EDT) with ESPN providing tape-delayed coverage of the event beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT).

Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"It's been a strange weekend for the Klein Tools/Jim Beam team. We had a problem yesterday in the morning session and we had a problem in the first session today. But, having Honda power, I'm confident that we can make up for a lot and I'm pleased with where we are."
