HERTA QUALIFIES XM SATELLITE RADIO CAR IN 15TH POSITION
MOTEGI, Japan (April 29, 2005) - Bryan Herta, driver of the #7 XM Satellite Radio car, qualified 15th with a best-lap speed of 200.154 miles per hour (27.3389 seconds) for Saturday's running of the Indy Japan 300.
Herta was the first driver of the day to attempt to qualify and faced several challenges. Weather conditions changed throughout the hour-long qualification session and made track conditions more favorable with speeds increasing throughout the session.
The 200-lap event is set to go green Saturday at 12 a.m. (EDT) with ESPN providing tape- delayed coverage beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT). The Indy Japan 300 is the fourth of 17 races on the 2005 Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series schedule and can be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers on Extreme XM, channel 152.
Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. This isn't close to where we need to be for the race. But, the most important thing now is to regroup and get the XM Satellite Radio car ready for the race. I'm confident that we'll be ready."
