Matsuura Hoping to Gain Ground in Milwaukee
The IndyCar Series 2006 season is quickly winding down with five races remaining leading into the ABC Supply Company -- AJ Foyt 225 at The Milwaukee Mile this weekend. Kosuke Matsuura is anxiously awaiting his return to the racetrack following a promising run at Nashville last weekend that had the makings of a top-three finish and would have marked his career-best result. Unfortunately, a mechanical problem with 37 laps to go eliminated the #55 Panasonic machine but the end result has not hampered Matsuura's confidence heading into this Sunday's 225-lap event.
Matsuura has recorded five top-eight runs to date this season and currently sits 10th in the point standings, six points out of eighth place.
Kosuke Matsuura -- At-A-Glance:
* Will be making his third career start at Milwaukee
* Claimed best result at Milwaukee in 2004 finishing 10th
* Finished 11th last year
* Has started 20th in both previous starts at Milwaukee
* Recorded five top-eight finishes in nine races to date
* Currently sits 10th in the championship standings, 13 points out of seventh place
* Will be making his 43rd IndyCar Series career start this weekend
Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone: "I had a pretty good car with the Panoz for the race last year, but I think we gave something up to the Dallaras. I am looking forward to going back to Milwaukee in the Dallara this year to see what we can do. This can be a difficult track and I would like to get a good result here and I'm looking to also get a better qualifying result. Both times that I have been here, I have started 20 th . The team is doing a great job and I have a lot of confidence for this weekend."
