Milwaukee, WI (July 25, 2004)---The inaugural AJ Foyt 225 is now in the record books at the historic Milwaukee Mile. Kelley Racing and driver Scott Sharp ended the day in 15th position after battling through a number of adversities. Sharp spun coming out of turn 4 early in the race but was able to avoid any contact, then later a wheel nut on the right rear of the car came loose under caution and the final incident occurred on pit road when Sharp was struck exiting pit lane. Despite all of these incidents, Sharp and his Delphi crew maintained their composure and finished the 225-lap event in 15th position. Dario Franchitti won today's event with Buddy Rice finishing second and Sam Hornish Jr. finishing third.
The Kelley Racing team will now return to their Indianapolis shop and prepare for next weekend's event to be held at the Michigan Speedway on Sunday, August 2, 2004.
Scott Sharp -- #8 Delphi/Dallara/Toyota/Firestone--Quote
"This was a really rough weekend for the Delphi team. It's sad to have the kind of test that we did here and I honestly came here thinking that I was going to be very mad at myself if we didn't qualify in the top-ten. Then to qualify in the back, we all just can't understand it because the car was just so far away in set-up than when we tested. We made some good changes to the car this morning but you really never know what the race car is going to do until you are 30-40 laps into the run and I fought a seriously loose car all day."
