TARGET TEAM QUALIFIES 2ND AND 4TH AT MILWAUKEE MILE
THIS WEEKEND: Target Team IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon (No.9 Target Honda-powered Dallara) and Dan Wheldon (No.10 Target Honda-powered Dallara) will race 225 laps (225 miles) on a 1 mile oval at the Milwaukee Mile. The ABC Supply Co./A.J. Foyt 225 presented by Time Warner Cable is the 6th race in 17-race 2006 season. The team is sporting a new livery this weekend as the no.10 Target car will trade in the traditional red and white for the green and white colours of FujiFilm.
VENUE: The Milwaukee Mile is a one-mile oval and the flattest track on the circuit. The front and back straight-aways are of equal length at 1,265 feet and are banked at 2.5 degrees while the turns are banked at 9.25 degrees. This, in turn, makes finding the right set up a bit more of a challenge.
QUALIFYING RESULTS: Scott Dixon will start from the front row after qualifying second with a speed of 169.266 mph (21.5873 seconds) Target teammate, Dan Wheldon in the FujiFilm Target car will start right behind him in fourth place after qualifying with a speed of 169.097 mph (21.6089 seconds). Helio Castroneves has the pole position.
INDY PRO SERIES: After finishing second at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Freedom 100, Chris Festa (No.9 CareCentric Target Indy Pro) took on the Milwaukee Mile for the Road Runner 100, 5th race in 16-race 2007 Indy Pro Series™ season. From his 15th place starting position on the grid, Festa was looking to improve his position but was the unfortunate by-stander as an early race accident collected him and prematurely ended his day. He was credited with a 21st place finishing position.
THAT'S JUST SOOOO CHEESEY!: Wisconsin ranks first in the nation for the production of milk, butter and cheese so in honour of the IndyCar Series' annual visit to the "cheese state", and the media's never ending quest for more information and tidbits to share with fans....as cheesy as it may be...here are the Target team's favorite types of cheese: Target team owner Chip Ganassi's favorite is Swiss, while Scott Dixon prefers Colby, Dan Wheldon's choice is Brie, and Chris Festa loves Mozzarella.
TARGET CHIP GANASSI RACING QUOTEBOARD:
Scott Dixon: (On Qualifying) "This morning we were struggling real bad. Then we did some mock fuel runs. We changed the car spring-wise quite a bit, and with rear dampers the car just came alive. I'm more happy with my race car than with my qualifying car."
Dan Wheldon: (on Qualifying) "Our setup was not as good as it should have been. Our engineer (Andy Brown) will have to make some calculated changes for the race setup."
