VISION RACING COMPLETES FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE AT MID-OHIO
LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Vision Racing drivers Tomas Scheckter , A.J. Foyt IV and Ed Carpenter took to the 2.4-mile, 15-turn road course at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today in preparation for Sunday's Honda 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by Westfield Insurance.
All three drivers participated in both practice sessions on the day with Scheckter leading the team in the No. 2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone machine as he was 13th on the day and completed 56 laps.
Foyt, completed 50 laps in the No. 22 Honda powered Dallara and was 16th on the speed charts.
Carpenter was 17th in the No. 20 Hitachi Power Tools special and completed 56 total laps.
Tomas Scheckter -- No. 2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"Unfortunately we didn't finish as high up on the speed charts as we thought we could. We had quite a bit of understeer out there today so we'll be working on some of that tomorrow morning to see if we can get the car faster for qualifying. We had a decent day of practice and I really like the track. The weather here is great and there are a lot of fans here on just our first day so I'm hoping we can find some more speed in the car and have a good weekend."
A.J. Foyt IV -- No. 22 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"Practice went alright. We were a little off on our gearing so that kind of hurt our speed, but overall we had a good couple of practices. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can each time I go out there so we'll be back tomorrow morning to work on it some more and we'll see what happens."
Ed Carpenter -- No. 20 Hitachi Power Tools/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"I felt like practice went okay. The car felt better in the afternoon session. It was more consistent and better to drive which is a step in the right direction for me. We still have some understeer that we'd like to get figured out and we would definitely like to get some more speed in the car, but overall it was better."
