Matsuura Looking Forward to Michigan Debut

The IRL IndyCar® Series heads to Brooklyn, Michigan, this weekend for the Michigan Indy 400, the third in a string of three back-to-back weekends of racing. Bombardier Rookie of the Year points leader Kosuke Matsuura [Kohs-kay Mat-sur-ah] will get his first look at Michigan International Speedway this Friday when practice gets underway on the 2-mile D-shaped oval.

Matsuura enters the weekend with a boost of confidence from last Sunday's race in Milwaukee, where he bounced back from a practice accident and a last row start to claim his third top-10 finish of the season.

Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Panoz G Force/Honda/Firestone:

"I have never been to the Michigan track, but I will work hard for a good result there. Honda has a very good, strong engine and I know that John Dick [race engineer] will give me a good car. In the last race at Milwaukee, we started out very bad when I crashed my car and gave the team a lot of work. We started last but finished in the top 10 which was a good result, and I have a lot of confidence and motivation for this weekend. I knew that Milwaukee would be a tough weekend for us after we tested there, but I feel a lot more confidence about coming to race at Michigan."
