Matsuura Lines Up 14th at Michigan
Still looking for more speed in the #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara, Kosuke Matsuura will start 14th in Sunday's Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Matsuura, who claimed his IndyCar Series career-best qualifying result at Michigan in 2004 with a second-place start, was 11th -quickest overall with a lap of 213.638 mph after 90 minutes of practice in preparation for qualifying this afternoon.
Matsuura will be looking for a solid result in tomorrow's 400-mile race after being unable to capitalize on strong runs at Michigan the past two years due to on-track incidents. To date, Matsuura has recorded five top-eight finishes this season.
Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"That was very disappointing. The Michigan circuit is one of my favorite tracks but after the first practice, I knew my car wasn't as good as the past two years. I have a good car, maybe a little bit tight, but it is just slow. The race will be long and hopefully we can find something more in the final practice session this afternoon. We'll keep pushing and, hopefully, we can have a good result tomorrow."
