Quote on the Firestone Indy 400
"I'm really looking forward to coming back to Michigan International Speedway. This will be the first time that I have raced at MIS in the IndyCar Series car and I think it's going to be great. The Corteco/Bryant special and the Corteco crew are both at the top of their games and we have great power and reliability with the Toyota engine so I'm looking for a great result at MIS. There probably won't be a big difference driving the IndyCar versus the Champ Car that I had driven at MIS in the past because at Michigan, drafting plays an important role. I'm looking forward to the Firestone Indy 400, it should be a great race."
Scott Sharp, No. 8 Delphi/Dallara/Toyota/Firestone---Fast Facts and Quote
This will be Sharp's 76th career start and his sixth season with Kelley Racing.
Michigan Record--In 2002, he started 16th and finished ninth
Sharp is currently in seventh place in the IndyCar Series with 193 points.
Sharp's victory in April at Twin Ring Motegi, Japan was his eighth career victory.
"I'm extremely excited to go to Michigan International Speedway. For starters, it is basically Delphi's home track and there will be a high number of Delphi executives and employees at the race. Michigan is also a great track for the IRL IndyCar Series cars. We put on a very exciting race to the finish last year with 14 or 15 cars in one big group, drafting and jockeying for the finish, sometimes three or four abreast. When you think of IndyCars and the middle of the summer, I think of Michigan. It is rich in IndyCar Series heritage - I grew up watching many of the Michigan IndyCar races and can't wait to get back there to race this week!"
