Fernandez Confident of Strong Run at Michigan

Adrian Fernandez will be making his ninth career major open-wheel start at Michigan International Speedway this weekend when the IRL IndyCar® Series heads to the Brooklyn circuit for the Michigan Indy 400. Fernandez last competed on the 2-mile D-shaped oval in 2001, and claimed his best finish on the superspeedway in 1995 with a third-place run. He started on the front row at Michigan in 1998, his first career pole position in major open-wheel racing.

In 15 career 2-mile oval starts, Fernandez has recorded five top-five finishes, 3 top-three finishes, one win and one pole position. He has finished in the top-10 the past six races.

Adrian Fernandez, #5 Quaker State/Telmex/Tecate Panoz G Force/Honda/Firestone:
"I haven't raced at Michigan for a couple of years, and I am looking forward to this weekend. We should be strong there. I have had some good results on superspeedway circuits in the past, and this is a track that we know. We are still struggling a bit with our setup for the short ovals, but I feel we should be strong out of the box here."
