Matsuura Moves Progress to Oval Test
Kosuke Matsuura and the Super Aguri Fernandez Racing team continued to make progress on their learning curve with the team's new Dallara chassis in their first run on a 1.5-mile oval. After two days of testing on Homestead-Miami Speedway's road course as part of an IndyCar Series Open Test, the team moved to the circuit's oval today with Matsuura ending the day 14th fastest. The test concluded the team's pre-season testing program. The series will return to the Homestead oval in three weeks time for the first race of the 2006 season.
Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It was our first day running on a big oval and we were working on our initial setup with the new car. The time doesn't show it but we found a lot of good things today. I have really good mechanics and a good engineer in Chris Finch. We have more things coming for the car before the first race, and I am confident to have a good car. In the traffic, the car felt really good. I think our biggest problem was when I was running on my own. Qualifying may be a bit difficult for us, but I think the race here will be a lot of fun."
