Sharp and Dismore Score Points at Indy 200

Orlando, FL (January 24, 1999) - The Kelley Racing team departed Orlando, Florida with a sense of accomplishment. The duo of Scott Sharp and Mark Dismore finished 4th and 6th respectively. Scott Sharp #8 set the pace all weekend; setting fast time on Friday, winning the pole position on Saturday and leading the most laps and setting the fastest lap in today's race at Walt Disney World Speedway. Teammate Mark Dismore endured a 'tap' by a fellow Pep Boys Indy Racing League driver to finish solidly in the top ten.

Mark Dismore "The car was a really good race car. I flat-spotted the tires when I got hit, otherwise we would have been styling. That final pit stop put us a lap down to the leaders. You just can't tell when a guy is going to wreck and bring out the yellow."

Scott Sharp - "I am trying to take the emotion out (of not winning). We got points and a whole race car. It was a great performance by Kelley Racing. The handling changed on the car, but we were able to fix it and catch Goodyear and Cheever. Our final pit stop was under green and we lost a lap. We won everything we wanted this weekend, except the big one."

Tom Kelley, team owner - "Both drivers did a great job today. We are 3rd and 6th in the points. Scott got three points for the pole and two for leading the most laps. Those points could make a big difference at the end of the year. We know it's going to be a tight battle for the championship."

Kelley Racing will test in Las Vegas on February 8-9.
