After changing two engines and struggling in practice, Scott Sharp and the Delphi team posted their best lap of the weekend when it counted. Sharp ran a 210.387 mph lap to qualify 13th for Saturday night's Midas 500 Classic. Teammate Mark Dismore ran a 211.493 mph lap good enough for 7th starting spot. The OnStar pilot, whose won three career Indy Racing Northern Light Series poles, continued to focus on his race setup and first victory of the season.

Scott Sharp #8 Delphi/Futaba/Worldcom Oldsmobile:

"We improved a lot, almost 2 mph. The Delphi guys have been working their butts off all weekend, and it's nice to finally see it start to come together. That 210 we posted in qualifying was pretty much in race trim; I'm real confident about our chances in the race now."

Mark Dismore #28 OnStar/GM BuyPower/Bryant Oldsmobile:

"I knew we didn't have a pole car today, but I didn't come here to win the pole. The OnStar team's focus all weekend is the race; we've been fast here before and had problems. I want to be fast all night tomorrow, not just today."
