"It's incredible to leave Kansas today with a second-place finish. We worked on the car during our first two pit stops, which improved the handling and we were able to run in the top-five for most of the day. About two-thirds of the way into the race (lap 132), we had a problem with the gearbox and I thought my day was over. I was going down the backstretch and went to shift into sixth gear and lost it; then I lost fifth and somehow I was able to get the car into fourth. I felt like I was going about 20 miles per hour, but fortunately, I was able to get going again. From then on we just tried to save fuel and maintain our position. Tim (Cindric) called a great race today; I couldn't believe it when he said I was in second place with about six laps to go. While we didn't get the win for Roger's (Penske) 1,000th start, it was terrific for Marlboro Team Penske to finish second and third (teammate Gil de Ferran finished third), especially since we've been struggling on the 1.5-mile ovals. The credit goes to the Team, they did a fantastic job this weekend."

"The car was brilliant today. I had a good start and was able to move up a couple of positions (de Ferran moved from fourth to second on the first lap). I spent the early part of the race biding my time behind (Scott) Dixon in order to save fuel and waiting to mount an attack for the lead. On my second pit stop, I came in out of sequence, and after everyone had come in for their stops, I took over first place (lap 79). I was running flat out and was able to maintain the lead for most of the race (de Ferran led a race-high 93 laps), but at the end of the day we came up a little short. I certainly felt like I had the best car out there. It's encouraging to finish third with my teammate (Helio Castroneves) finishing second. We've had some difficulty with the mile and a half ovals so it's great to come out of here with both cars finishing in the top-three. The credit is definitely due to the Team, because they've worked so hard the past few weeks to prepare for this race. I think that these results speak for themselves and I definitely feel more confident going to Nashville after finishing so strongly here in Kansas. It was a good run today for Marlboro Team Penske and it was a great showing for Roger's (Penske) 999th and 1,000th starts."
