Andretti's Day Ends Early at Kansas After Handling Issues Halt NYSE Car

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (April 29, 2007) -- Marco Andretti finished 19th at the Kansas Lottery Indy 300 on Sunday after being forced to the pits on several occasions with an ill-handling race car. Andretti is now in 14th place in the IndyCar Series driver championship, but only 15 points out of eighth place.

From the opening laps of the race, Andretti battled with a car that felt like it was missing grip from the back end of the machine. After making a couple of pit stops to improve the NYSE car, the decision was made to park the car in the garage.

Dan Wheldon won his second race of the 2007 IndyCar Series season. Andretti's AGR teammate Dario Franchitti drove the Canadian Club car to a second-place finish, his best at Kansas Speedway. Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and Tomas Scheckter rounded out the top five.

The next race on the IndyCar Series schedule is the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 27. ABC Sports will provide live coverage of the race beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT). ESPN2 and ABC Sports will provide coverage of Pole Day, May 12, beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT) on ESPN2.

Marco Andretti, #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"I couldn't tell you what was wrong out there today. It was so scary for me. I don't know what else to say. I don't know what happened but it felt like my front and rear wings were upside down. There was no grip on the NYSE car today."
