Adrian Fernandez will make his first career start on the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway tri-oval from the sixth row of the grid after qualifying 11th for the Argent Mortgage Kansas Indy 300. Fernandez's best lap of 26.3051 208.020 mph was only 0.2655 seconds off the fastest time set by fellow Honda driver Buddy Rice. Fernandez, who will be making his sixth career IRL IndyCar Series start, will be looking for his fourth consecutive top-10 result in tomorrow's 200-lap race.
Weather: At the start of practice, 73 F and overcast with winds out of the west/northwest at 8 to 13 mph; for qualifying, 75F and partly cloudy with winds out of the west at 15 mph.
Practice Recap: Fernandez completed a total of 61 laps during the two 30-minute practice sessions prior to qualifying, posting a best lap of 26.4430 207.014 mph.

"We struggled a little bit this morning with some problems with the telemetry. For qualifying, we just didn't find more speed. On this track, everyone is flat-footed pretty easily. It is really the race that counts."
