Kansas Lottery Indy 300
Kansas Speedway - Kansas City, Kan.
April 28-29, 2007 - Round 4 of 17
Race Distance: 300 miles/482.8 km (200 laps on the 1.5-mile/2.414-km oval).
Television Broadcast: Live - Sunday, April 29, at 4:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN2.
Firestone Firehawk Race Tires Supplied: 764 dry-condition slicks.
Each car receives eight sets (32 total tires) for the race weekend.
New for 2007, these tires were produced in Akron, Ohio, and were developed based on testing at Homestead last December. They offer slightly more grip than last year's tire and were run at this year's season opener in Homestead. They will also be run later this season at Texas Motor Speedway.
Quote from Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "With three different winners in the first three races so far this season, this weekend's race at Kansas Speedway is shaping up to be very interesting! We are back to the heart of the IndyCar Series schedule, and the change of date for this event is apparently going to pay off as the weather looks like it is going to fully cooperate. Having run this particular tire earlier this year at Homestead, Firestone Racing is confident that the Firehawks will give the drivers the extra grip and confidence they need to race as hard as ever and put on a great show for the fans."
Firestone Performance Award: This $10,000 prize commemorates Firestone's status as the only tire manufacturer to have participated in every IndyCar Series race, and it is given to the driver leading the lap number corresponding to the cumulative number of races in series history. The Kansas Lottery Indy 300 is the 138th IndyCar Series race, so the Firestone Performance Award will go to the driver who leads lap 138.
