KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2005) - Dan Wheldon, driver of the #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam car, qualified 13th for Sunday's running of the Argent Mortgage Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway with a best-lap speed of 212.750 miles per hour (25.7203 seconds).

Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It's been a very challenging weekend at Kansas so far. The Klein Tools/Jim Beam car has been very slow since we rolled it off the truck and we really don't know why. We just don't seem to have an answer for it. Right now I've got a lot of people in front of me that are going to be difficult to beat, so we'll have to work very hard to get another good result."

Bryan Herta, driver of the #7 XM Satellite Radio car, qualified 16th for Sunday's running of the Argent Mortgage Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway with a best- lap speed of 210.697 miles per hour (25.9709 seconds).

Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I'm a little confused and really don't feel very good about where we're at with the XM Satellite Radio car. We just don't seem to have qualifying figured out on these one-and-a-half mile tracks. We couldn't get any speed out of the car this morning during practice, so we put Dario's set up on because we knew he was going fast, but we didn't get any speed out of that either. So, it's very disappointing."

Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan recorded a lap of 213.411 miles per hour (25.6407 seconds) during qualifying at the 1.5 mile Kansas Speedway and will start from the eighth position for Sunday's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Argent Mortgage Indy 300.

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I was hoping to go a little quicker but that was as quick as I could go. We're back at a 1.5-mile oval and, except for today, we haven't qualified in the top-10 at one of these tracks this year. But, I've finished in the top-three twice so it shows that where you qualify really doesn't matter at some of these tracks. The Team 7-Eleven car felt good in race trim during practice and I know it will be strong in the race, and that's where it counts."

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2005) - Dario Franchitti recorded a lap of 214.214 miles per hour (25.5446 seconds) in the #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone during qualifying at Kansas Speedway and will start from the sixth position for Sunday's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Argent Mortgage Indy 300.

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"The ArcaEx car felt good in qualifying; it felt very balanced. As a driver qualifying at these 1.5- mile tracks, there's not a lot we can do. My guys did a great job preparing the ArcaEx car, as did the engineers; they did a wonderful job. I also think we have a reasonably good race car and that's what really counts."

The eighth event of the 2005 IndyCar Series season is set to go green at 1:25 p.m. (EDT) Saturday with ESPN providing broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event beginning at 1 p.m. (EDT).
