Johnny Unser to drive in Pennzoil 200

Johnny Unser has been picked by the Jonathan Byrd/Cunninham Racing team to fill in for Mike Groff in this weekend's Pennzoil 200. Groff suffered a concussion during practice for the race earlier today when his car spun in Turn 3 and struck the outside wall. Groff lost consciousness briefly and was taken to nearby Dartmouth Hospital where he was treated and held overnight for observation.

Unser, who drove for the Jonathan Byrd team earlier this year in the TrueValue 500 and Samsonite 200 while Groff was recovering from a leg injury, was honored to be chosen once again as his replacement. "I hope that Mike is okay and will be out of the hospital soon," said Unser this afternoon. "In the meantime,we'll do our best to bring home a solid finish for the team here in Loudon."

Unser will be driving the #10 G-Force Jonathan Byrd Cafeteria/Bryant Heating & Cooling car which is powered by the Oldsmobile Aurora engine. He is being fitted to the car this evening and will be on the track for the morning practice session on Saturday. The race is scheduled to be televised nationwide at 4pm EST on Sunday.

We will provide updates on Johnny and the Jonathan Byrd team throughout the weeekend through our e-mail list and on our website at http://www.unser-racing.com.
