RACING MINISTRY HELPS DRIVERS SLOW DOWN, REFLECT

FOUNTAIN, Colo. - The racing fraternity is known for its fast paced lifestyle, its love for speed and the many dangers involved. Fortunately there is the Indy Racing League Ministry to help the racing community slow down, even if for only a few minutes each week.

Throughout the year at every Pep Boys IRL event including this weekend's Radisson 200 at Pikes Peak International Raceway near Colorado Springs, the IRL Ministry is there to help with counseling and spiritual support to the drivers, teams, officials and support participants

On Sunday, Aug. 16, IRL Ministry will hold Chapel services for all interested race participants at 11:15 a.m. in the Infield Media Center Interview Room. The services will be conducted by IRL Chaplain Mark Wingler, who is Chaplain to the Pep Boys IRL series and travels the circuit to provide pastoral care to all involved with the sport.

Although Mark has been the chaplain from the inception of the IRL series, this marks the first year of involvement of the newly developed IRL Ministry. The ministry was begun in September of last year to allow Mark to focus on the spiritual needs of the IRL community

Mark is an ordained Pastor from Brownsburg, Indiana. He is married, and he and his wife Debbie have three children. Together share the responsibility of Ministry to "The Church in the Fast Lane."

IRL Ministry, based in Brownsburg, has experienced substantial growth in just the first year of operation. Currently hosting four Bible Studies in the Indianapolis area for people in racing.
