HomeGate Studios and Suites Joins Forces with Lyn St. James Racing

INDIANAPOLIS, May 10 - Pep Boys Indy Racing League driver Lyn St. James announced today that HomeGate Studios and Suites is the official hotel suite company of Lyn St. James Racing.

The marketing program will begin with St. James' appearances at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this month. She'll attempt to put the Lifetime Television G-Force Infiniti No. 90 into the field for the Indianapolis 500 on May 24 during qualifying at the speedway May 16-17.

One of the newest hotel properties is the HomeGate at 5350 West Southern Ave., near the Indianapolis Airport. A special racing program, including a show car display and a live radio remote by Rodger Ward on WQFE, 101.9 FM, will be held there on Wednesday, May 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. St. James's Indy car will also carry HomeGate's logo.

HomeGate is a growing company and it expects to have 47 properties by the end of the year. Currently there are HomeGates in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Kansas and Texas in addition to Indiana. Properties in New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon and North Carolina are expected to be added this summer, with expansion into Georgia and Nevada this fall.

"We're very excited that HomeGate has come on board with us for the 1998 and 1999 seasons," said St. James. "HomeGate is perfect for business travelers who need extended stays, and we're glad that HomeGate has chosen our racing team to be part of its marketing program."

"We're really geared for people who are relocating, undergoing training or participating in special projects and need an extended-stay hotel," said Mark Tidwell, vice president of sales for HomeGate. "Every room has a fully furnished kitchen, which makes it an exceptional value and provides a touch of home away from home.

"We will have locations in most of the cities that the Indy Racing League will visit next year," Tidwell added. "The 1999 IRL schedule hasn't been released yet, but if it's similar to 1998 we will have properties in all of those cities with the exception of Loudon, N.H., and Dover, Del., by next year.

"Our chain is new, and recognition is important to us at this stage of the game," he added. "With Lyn St. James and the IRL, we'll get exposure in the markets that are important to us."

Prime Hospitality, headquartered in Fairfield, N.J., is the parent company of HomeGate, AmeriSuites and Wellesley Inn. The HomeGate division is headquartered in Atlanta.
