Indianapolis, IN 5-12-00 Jonathan Byrd / McCormack Motorsports is excited to announce two-time Indianapolis 500 starter, Robby Unser, as the driver of the Jonathan Byrd / McCormack Motorsports Riley & Scott / Oldsmobile / Firestone Firehawk # 29.

This will be Unser's third time around at the Speedway. As a rookie in 1998, Robby took 5th place, and followed that up last year with a strong run to 8th place. This year, running the all-new Riley & Scott, Robby looks to improve a few positions and believes that he is now in the right place to do that. Talking about his new ride, Unser says that he is, "Really looking forward to it. I'm always happy to be able to run here, and I think that this team is going to perform really well. I can't wait to get a hold of this new Riley & Scott to show everybody what it is capable of here at the Speedway. Right now my motivation level is through the roof because before the season started, the Riley & Scott was the car I picked as the best race car. Now I've got the opportunity to prove it. What is going to make the difference is that Riley & Scott is really backing us up. We've got great support and a good group of guys working on this deal. To me, that is always the biggest hurdle to clear. With this team, I know that there are a lot of really good people standing with me and behind me. That lets me go out and focus on doing my job."

"We're thrilled to be able to bring Robby on board with our team." Said Dennis McCormack. "Robby has put in a lot of laps at the Speedway and has been very competitive. His experience here will be instrumental in pushing the development of our Riley & Scott chassis, and I'm looking forward to getting started." Jonathan Byrd added, "Robby has got a tremendous feel for the Speedway, and his technical feedback is tremendous. That combination is one of the most important elements for success at Indy."

"I'm also excited to be working with Jonathan and Dennis." Unser noted. "They've been around this sport for a long time and I've been friends with both of them for as long as I can remember. I've had the pleasure of competing against their teams, and they've always put together a very professional effort. Of course, this is the first time for all of us to work together, and I see our personalities and philosophies meshing very well."

Unser rounded out his comments by stating "History has shown that a winning team is all about a good group of people working well together. From what I've seen, that is what this program is all about. I'm thankful for the support I need to go out and win this race."
