1. Gone to the dogs: The Westminster Dog Show is considered the Indianapolis 500, Academy Awards and Miss America pageant rolled into one. This week, about 2,500 American Kennel Club (AKC)-registered champions will prance before judges at New York's Madison Square Garden, vying for the most coveted prize for purebreds: Best in Show. But another set of prized pooches are "Best in Show," at least in the eyes of their owners in the IndyCar Series paddock. Here's the list of drivers:

Breed: Beagle, Age: 2
Owner: Helio Castroneves
Fido Facts: Named by Gil de Ferran's son because the dog enjoyed playing Tug of War as a puppy-- Sent to "Doggie Day Care" in 2006 because, according to Castroneves, "He needed discipline."

Lucky Speed
West Highland White Terrier
Owner: Tony Kanaan
About my dog: "Lucky is very friendly. She learns things quite well, and she immediately gets along with everybody that comes to visit me at home. I've also taken her to some races with me, and she didn't cause any trouble."

Shug & Buttermilk
Breed: Cockapoo
Owner: Dario Franchitti
Fido Facts: Brother and sister who travel with Franchitti or his wife Ashley to racetracks and movie locations.

Breed: Rottweiler, Age: 4
Owner: Ed Carpenter
About my dog: "I wanted to get a dog, so I started looking around on the Internet and decided I wanted a Rottweiler. My family had always had Labs, and I just wanted to do something different. Bentley is such a good dog, I would suggest a Rotty to anyone looking for a dog. My favorite thing about Bentley is his personality. He still acts just like a puppy, always playful and loving."

Breed: Chihuahua, Age: 3
Owner: Ed Carpenter
About my dog: "Rosco was a Valentine's Day present for (then-girlfriend, now wife) Heather in 2004. He loves to lay around and cuddle and is quite possibly the laziest dog I have ever seen. If you are laying around, you can always count on Rosco to keep you company. That is my favorite thing about him."

William Robert
Breed: Miniature Schnauzer
Owner: Danica Patrick
Fido Facts: Goes by the name "Billy," for short--Patrick bought him as puppy when she lived in Columbus, Ohio--Travels to selected races with Patrick's parents, who also owned a miniature schnauzer named Spike when Patrick was an infant.

Breed: Pit Bull-mix; Age: 1
Owner: Jeff Simmons
About my dog: "Batman is simply adorable. We (Simmons and fiancee Stephanie Soviar) adopted him from a shelter in Frankfort, Ind."

Breed: Italian Greyhound; Age 2
Owner: Tomas Scheckter
About my dog: "Indy travels with me to races. He is shy and always happy to see me no matter if I win or lose."

Breed: Miniature Pincher; Age 4
Owner: Tomas Scheckter
About my dog: "She's very laid back and just goes with the flow and never complains about anything."

Breed: Toy Fox Terrier; Age: 1
Owner: Tomas Scheckter
"The newest addition is Rossi. He's easy to travel with he; practically fits in my pocket."
