IRL: Indy 500: Vision Racing day ten notes

SPEEDWAY, Indiana -- To no surprise, rain again shortened practice for the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500, but Vision Racing took advantage of premium track time to run full-fuel setups and practice race-like conditions. Townsend Bell led the charge of Vision Racing's Rock & Republic Honda-powered Dallaras while Tomas Scheckter followed just behind and Ed Carpenter after that. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was busy when the track was dry as a total of 31 car and driver combinations took to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today.

Bell in the #90 Rock & Republic Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone lead his teammates for the second day in a row running a best lap of 221.329 mph, making him eighth best on the speed chart and once again, fastest of the rookies.

Scheckter took the ninth spot with a speed of 221.299 mph in his #2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone. Carpenter, in the #20 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, recorded a top speed of 220.106 putting him in the 14th spot.

All three drivers completed 103 combined laps while working together to simulate race-like conditions. The team will return to the track tomorrow for practice, which is schedule to start at noon and last until 6:00 p.m. (EDT). World Points Visa Card Pole Day Qualifying will occur on Saturday, May 20 with all 33 starting positions up for grabs, while Bump Day is set for Sunday, May 21.

Townsend Bell-- #90Rock & Republic Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On practice for the day:
"Practice was good. I have kept learning and I was able to go out and run in the windy conditions so that I know what to expect if that happens for qualifying or race day. The Rock & Republic car was pretty well sorted so overall we are happy."

Tomas Scheckter -- #2 Rock & Republic Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On practice for the day:
"Today was another good day once we were finally able to get out there. We were able to work together again to simulate race-like conditions to prepare for the race. It was a bit windy out there, but the team did a good job of giving me a good car. I'm happy with the car and our speeds and I'm ready to get back out there again tomorrow."

Ed Carpenter -- #20 Rock & Republic Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On practice for the day:
"Practice was good, but it was a short day. We were still productive with what running we were able to do. Tomas (Scheckter) and I had a really good long run together so I'm pretty happy with where our racecars are at. The conditions were a little challenging today, but the cars felt good in them so I am pretty happy overall."
