Team Menard continues with plan in practice at Indy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 7, 2003) -- Team Menard continued to log practice miles at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, completing 73 laps today with Jaques Lazier in the No. 2 John's Manville/Menards Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone. Under cloudy and rainy conditions (practice was closed for one hour and 43 minutes due to rain), Lazier was 25th of 32 cars at 39.8863 seconds, 225.6410 mph.
"The biggest problem yesterday is that we had a real loose car," Lazier said. "Today we found out what was wrong with the car and made some changes. We ran a 225.6 (mph) all by ourselves, without a tow. We are going to make some more changes and try to pick up a little more speed. Everything so far is going right as planned."
Pole qualifying for the 87th running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for May 10, with the race set for May 25. The race will be televised live on ABC and by the Indy Racing Radio Network. Live timing and scoring of all on-track activity can be found on www.indyracing.com.
