We weren't the quickest car on the track today, but our laps were consistent and that was what we wanted to accomplish. It was a good day, we got some mileage on our Chevy engine and plenty of good data. It was quite a long day, but well worth while."

"We accomplished what we wanted today. The Pennzoil Panther guys worked hard to get through the changes we needed to get ready for a quick stint in the afternoon. Everybody on the track is getting quicker, and our Chevrolet is going to be right there with the rest of the guys. We achieved a lot and will keep the momentum heading into tomorrow."

News & Notes: Mark Taylor ran more laps than any driver on the track today (115) ..... Scheckter was the fastest Chevrolet driver for the third consecutive day. Taylor spent a great deal of the afternoon working on his line with spotters Pancho Carter (Turn One) and 1983 Indianapolis 500 winner Tom Sneva, who was stationed in Turn Three ....
