Sharp Ends Day Early, Holds Fifth Spot

Weather: At the start of practice, 86 F with winds out of the west-southwest at 10 mph. At 3:00 pm, 90 F with winds out of the southwest at eight mph. Yellow flag for moisture at 5:30 pm.

Practice Summary: Sharp went out for his first run of the day at 12:00 pm, completing 9 laps with a top speed of 223.948 mph. He returned to the track at 3:30 pm, completing an additional 22 laps to set the second fastest time of the day at that point with a lap of 226.159 mph.

Scott Sharp, #8 Delphi Panoz/Honda/Firestone:

"This was another strong day for the Delphi Fernandez team. We made some big changes -- changes that will really work for the whole month, for the race and qualifying as well. All the big times are coming in tows, but nevertheless we are posting some solid times on our own. It was a good day of progress. We have a lot more running to do and we'll just keep chipping away at it."
