INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, April 24, 2002 -- Indy Racing League veteran Mark Dismore will drive a Sam Schmidt Motorsports entry with primary sponsorship from Char-Broil's Thermos Grill2Go brand at the 86th Indianapolis 500, team officials announced April 24.

"We are thrilled to have Grill2Go on board for this year's 500," team owner Sam Schmidt said. "And I think a veteran like Mark Dismore will represent the Grill2Go team well and put us in a great position to compete for the win."

Dismore, 45, from Greenfield, Ind., has made 52 Indy Racing League starts since the league's inaugural season in 1996, with a victory in October 1999 at Texas Motor Speedway and seven overall top-five finishes. He also has won four MBNA Poles during his career.

Dismore qualified fourth for the 2001 Indianapolis 500 and led for 29 laps before being forced to make a pit stop due to mechanical problems.

"I am excited to be coming back to the Indy 500 this year," Dismore said. "There is nothing like it. I am thrilled to be driving for Sam here at home and to have a great new sponsor like Grill2Go."

The Grill2Go entry for Sam Schmidt Motorsports will be fielded in cooperation with Treadway-Hubbard Racing. The car number will be announced at a later date. Firestone Langhorne Sports Marketing manages sponsorship and marketing for the Grill2Go car.
