Matsuura Indy 500 Highest Finishing Rookie
* Matsuura claimed the best starting and finishing position of the eight rookies in the field
Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Panoz G Force/Honda/Firestone:
"I think this race was my best race; I did my best. Actually there were a couple of unlucky things - weather conditions and also the temperature changing too much the last 50 laps. The Rahal guys were quicker than us. Under hot conditions, we were okay. I had seventh place and we were passing a lot of cars on the restarts. Today was too unlucky. At the end, I finished at the top of the rookies again and I got some points so this is good for the championship."

Tom Anderson, Managing Director:
"The #55 Panasonic team had a day when we never really got into the rhythm. The rain didn't work according to our plan today. We put too much fuel in at the end. We did have enough fuel in to go the full 200 laps but the rain got here a little too quick. In reality, that cost us a couple of finishing positions where [Roger] Yasukawa and [Helio] Castroneves got by us. I am very proud of Kosuke's restarts and what he did. Indianapolis this year was about track position and we weren't able to capitalize in the pits and we weren't able to get it all back on the race track. We raced in the top 10 all day, and I'm very proud of Kosuke's performance. We will work on our pit equipment and refueling rig to be more competitive at Texas.
"I want to congratulate Honda on their victory today. It was very impressive; a big congratulations to them. To Firestone, who again proved that they have a wonderful tire with the handling in the warm and wet conditions, well done."
