McGehee Has Productive Day; Cahill Entry Reaches 224 mph Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS, May 16 - Defending Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves and Cahill Racing's Robby McGehee turned more laps than any other drivers during practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Thursday, as both recorded 78 laps. When practice concluded at 6 p.m. McGehee's Scottrade.com/Dollar Rent a Car/Indianapolis Downtown Marriott Dallara Chevy was in 18th place overall with a top lap at an average speed of 224.152 mph.

"It was a very productive day for the Cahill Racing team and the Scottrade.com Dallara Chevy," McGehee said. "We found some speed today, but we need to find some more.

"We made a big change last night back in the garage area and the car was very comfortable right away this morning," he added. "At the end of the day we made another big change but that didn't work as well as we'd hoped, so we're going back to this morning's set-up for tomorrow."

Although Thursday's practice was delayed twice by rain and gusty wind proved challenging for everyone, McGehee and the Cahill Racing team were grateful that the track was dry most of the day.

"Fortunately the rain held off enough today so that we were able to get a lot of work done," McGehee agreed. "I feel much better today because we got some speed out of the car. Realistically this was only our second day of practice and you have to be patient here, but we definitely got a lot done today.

"I don't even want to think about Sunday yet," he added. "We have to focus on the task at hand and take it one day at a time. It doesn't pay to rush here; patience and hard work are what's important, but today was a good day."
