INDIANAPOLIS -- Robby Gordon got in 43 laps of Indy 500 race setup work Saturday in his qualified Meijer/Coca-Cola Dallara-Chevrolet at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His best lap speed was 215.751 mph. Gordon left early to return to Charlotte for Saturday night's NASCAR All-Star Challenge, where he'll drive the Cingular Wireless Chevy for Richard Childress Racing.

Team manager/engineer Thomas Knapp explained that the Meijer team had taken setup information gathered when Gordon practiced in his non-qualified car Wednesday and Thursday and transferred that to the qualified car Saturday. "Robby had to be a little careful out there with traffic," said Knapp, "since this is the car he qualified."

Gordon will be back in Indy Sunday, essentially to scrub-in Firestone tires for race day, and for a 7 p.m. autograph session at the Meijer store at Pike Plaza.
