INDY 500 POLE DAY SCHEDULE SET; PRACTICE RESUMES WEDNESDAY

INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday, May 16, 2006 -- Practice for the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 resumes Wednesday, May 17, as teams and drivers get some much-needed practice before The Run for the WorldPoints Visa Card Pole on Coca-Cola Throwback Day, Saturday, May 20.

Rain drenched most of the opening week of the 90th Indianapolis 500, washing out qualifying on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14.

Drivers and teams will attempt to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 field Saturday, with all 33 spots available. The schedule (all times Eastern):

WorldPoints Visa Card Pole Award Presentation, Victory Circle

The slowest car in the field, regardless of the day it qualified, can be bumped on Bump Day, the final day of qualifying on Sunday, May 21. Public gates open at 8 a.m., and Bump Day practice begins at 10:15 a.m. with qualifications from noon-6 p.m.

Tickets are $5 each day Saturday and Sunday, with children ages 5 and under admitted free. Tickets from Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 will be honored on Saturday or Sunday.

Public gates open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with practice scheduled for noon-6 p.m. Tickets are $5, with children ages 5 and under admitted free. The same schedule will be followed for practice Thursday and Friday.

The 90th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 28.

Fans can order tickets online at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com, by calling the IMS ticket office at (317) 492-6700 or (800) 822-INDY outside the Indianapolis area, or at the ticket office at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Parking and camping information also can be obtained through the ticket office.

Hours for phone orders and the ticket office are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (ET) Monday-Sunday during May, with special hours of 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on WorldPoints Visa Card Pole Day and 6 a.m.-1 p.m. on Race Day. Online orders can be made at any time.

Ticket prices start at just $20.
