McGehee Works on Set-up on Carb Day

INDIANAPOLIS, May 27 - St. Louis' Robby McGehee and PDM Racing used every minute possible of the two-hour practice session Thursday on Miller Lite Carb Day to work on the set-up on their Natoli Engineering/PDM Racing Dallara Chevrolet No. 18 in preparation for Sunday's Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

McGehee turned 41 laps Thursday, of which his fastest was unofficially timed at 209.400 miles an hour. He has turned 91 laps in total here this month prior to Sunday's race.

"We learned a lot about the car," McGehee said immediately after climbing out of the cockpit Thursday afternoon. "This was our first time on full tanks with this car; I just wish we had been able to do this earlier. We had a push and it got loose in turn one a couple of times, but we worked on getting a comfortable car for me to race on Sunday. We'll go back to the garage and make some more adjustments. We will use the first part of the race to tune the car so we can be strong at the end, when it counts."

McGehee will participate in the CAR Charities fashion show on Friday and the 500 Festival parade on Saturday. Sunday's race, which will be broadcast live on ABC, will begin at 11 a.m. Central time.

Sunday's Indy 500 will mark McGehee's fifth start in the world's greatest auto race, the largest single-day sporting event in the world. His best finish to date is fifth in 1999.
