Weather: At the start of practice, overcast and windy with temperatures at 63 F and winds out of the northeast at 13 mph. At 3:00 pm, temperatures at 68 F with winds out of the east at 10 mph. At 5:00 pm, temperatures at 65 F with northeast winds at 13 mph.

Practice Summary: Matsuura took to the track at the start of practice, completing 22 laps during his first run with a best lap of 224.075 mph. He was shown in third position when the team returned to the garage. Matsuura began his second run at 2:30 pm, ending when the checkered flag fell on the day. Matsuura turned an additional 111 laps to end the day with a top speed of 224.984 mph.

"We are working on the race setup, but the car was really edgy and snappy today. When I was in traffic, sometimes there was a big push and when you are too close, the rear wants to step out. So it was very difficult with understeer and oversteer. The car was always changing. We are going to run tomorrow. The weather was a little bit cooler today and my car is better when it is warmer. Race day may be a little bit cooler so we have to find a good setup for these conditions."
