Miller Lite car logs 57 laps on busy day.
SPEEDWAY, IN . . . Miller Lite driver Jimmy Vasser and the Rahal/Letterman Racing team continued to gain familiarity with the team's #19 Dallara/Chevrolet on the third day of practice for the 86th running of the Indianapolis 500. Vasser finished the day as the 20th fastest driver as he logged a fast lap of 224.291 mph in his back-up car and a fast lap of 223.140 mph in his primary car.
Rain again delayed the start of practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but once the green flag fell 37 cars took to the track in the busiest day of practice yet. Rookie Laurent Redon was fastest with a lap of 229.808 mph.
Practice resumes tomorrow morning at Noon EDT for the May 26th Indy 500.
Jimmy Vasser (#19 Miller Lite- Dallara/Chevrolet on Firestone tires) - "The lap times are not where we want them to be right now but the cars really feel good. We do have some tricks coming later in the week that should help our speed. It seems like we always found ourselves out on the track by ourselves where there was no chance to get a tow or draft. Certainly we have gone quicker with a tow but I'm really happy how the Miller Lite car feels at this point. We tried different setups on the cars and we learned a lot. That was good for us. The cars feel pretty solid. It's just a matter of squeezing a little more speed out of them. Conditions today were cooler and cloudy which were pretty close to ideal. That's why the speeds jumped so much. It could different later with more heat."
