Vasser tops 228 in Indy practice Rahal/Letterman Racing ready for pole day

SPEEDWAY, IN . . . Miller Lite driver Jimmy Vasser logged just 39 laps but he topped the 228 mph mark for the first time in practice for the 86th running of the Indianapolis 500. Vasser made significant gains in preparation for Saturday's Pole Day qualifying.

Team Rahal drew 53rd (primary) and 55th (back-up) positions in the qualifying order for Saturday. The field will cycle through the qualifying order according to the draw which was conducted at the close of practice today.

Pole Day qualifying begins tomorrow morning at Noon EDT for the May 26th Indy 500.

Jimmy Vasser (#19 Miller Lite- Dallara/Chevrolet on Firestone tires) -"The car feels real good. Were not fantastic but the car really does feel great. The conditions were perfect today and we certainly have taken a big leap forward. There are some guys who are still a little better off than us but we are looking like we are ready to qualify. We lost a little bit of time today making some changes to the car but in the end those changes paid off. We still have a few more things we can do to make the car better."
